Consider Taste and Texture
For new loose snus users know that there isn’t much difference in taste between most options, but here are my preferences according to taste: 1) General 2) Roda 3) Islay Whiskey 4) Ettan. General and IW are a bit more complex with their bergamot and whiskey/peat, respectively. (IW reminds me of Copenhagen.) Roda and Ettan have very subtle notes of licorice and chocolate, respectively, but they’re all tobacco forward so very similar. If you like the taste of one you’ll probably like them all. For that reason texture is just as important to me. My preferences there are 1) Roda 2) IW 3) General 4) Ettan. Roda makes the tightest prilla and doesn’t slide in my mouth. IW is similar. General is slightly less moist that Ettan and slides a bit less. When all is said and done I’ll probably stick with Roda and IW. Both have nice textures and aren’t too similar in taste so I’ll have a bit of variety. (By the way, if you’ve never tried portions (pouches) they’re certainly cleaner - they keep the tobacco from sliding - but I don’t care for the texture at all.) Hope this helps!
